I’m Special

Last week I wrote about donating blood and I am proud to report that I did, in fact, donate blood last Friday. It was actually very easy. I showed up, they asked me some questions and I filled out a form and met with a nurse.

The next thing I knew I was being poked and then before I knew what was happening it was over. I had done it, I became a blood donor.

Last night I got a follow up phone call from Bonfils asking me if I had a good experience. “Absolutely” I replied.

The lady on the the line then told me I was special. She actually said it three times! I have O Negative blood type which only 6 percent of the population has, and I am a universal donor when it comes to red blood cells. She explained to me that in trauma cases my red blood cells can be given when they do not know the accident victim’s blood type. “Well, what do you know, I am special” I thought happily.

I will donate again.

So my friend, I ask you “what’s next on your list?”
